Florists, photographers and Nakuru night clubs reap big in Valentine frenzy
As the high of Valentine day wears down, business persons in Nakuru are left counting profits all thanks to couples who chose to celebrate the day of love.
Paul Karanja a florist at the Maasai Market was all smiles as he was able to reap big.
"The day started quite slowly but as the day progressed we had an increase in the number of customers who visited our shop. It was a really good day for my business," he said.
Moi road also saw a beehive of activities, with many couples coming out to take photos.
We spoke to Victor Nyaoga, a renowned photographer who said that on his part he has had a good number of customers.
"I had not expected such a turn out being a weekday, but the fact that I always show up and expect a positive outcome really paid off. We hope this continues for the better part of the month and beyond," he said with a light smile.
For the vendors in town we got to speak to Anne Kanguti who sells ornaments such as teddy bears, and bracelets.
According to Ann, the day was slightly underwhelming.
"Compared to previous years, I have not been able to make impressive sales. I think this is because of the high cost of living which is impacting many Kenyans at the moment," she said.
As the day came to a close, the attention shifted to the night life with many local entertainment joints offering Valentine's specials offers, featuring special events as well.
As early as 7pm, couples could be seen streaming into various popular night clubs in Nakuru city, dressed in well thought out red and black attire.
